The Long Riders wasn't as slow as some Westerns I've seen. It was still slow, but I found it to be decently balanced. They also did some interesting smash-cuts that helped to break the monotony up a bit, and there were enough characters to jump between that it never truly slogged, outside of the aforementioned couple of fight scenes, but even that was only two out of...I don't know four? Five? So, not a bad spread.
