It was a mix of high-flyers and grinders that made the Wings good and good to watch in the 90s. Right now, it's a lot of developing talent, so you get to see what kind of players they're going to turn in to when there's enough time and experience but into them.

The way the game is these days, the best skill someone can look for is good hand-eye coordination to deflect pucks on net and being unmovable when you set up shop in front of the goaltender. A hard shot from your defense helps set those things up, but it seems more and more that being able to angle your pucks in its the most effective way of scoring.
