She sincerely was, though I will admit I found her vastly irritating in the first episode. Now that I've seen the series through (*coughmultipletimescough*) she's one of my favorites~

Book!Freddie and Book!Chilton were so terrible, but in the show, I was just like DON'T YOU HURT THE TERRIBLE PRECIOUS BBS. Someone was like, they should escape on a road trip together! (Would they make it ten miles?)

(I haven't seen the WHOLE show, I saw selected arcs and read all of cleolinda's recaps, which were amazing. It was a little too gory for me to see in full. Also ABIGAIL >:-(

I confess to never having read the books, though I've got them next on my list. I was a big fan of Hannibal Rising back in the day bc I had a crush on Gaspard Ulliel and enjoyed The Silence of the Lambs but the greater mythos didn't really capture my attention until the TV show.

Chilton is SO GOOD and once they showed more of Freddie than just the snippets we saw of her as the "thorn in the FBI's side tabloid journalist" I was like OOOOOKAY YES YES YES YES YES. I would 10,000% read a road trip fic of them. It would be the bestworst XD

I would also read an entire book series about Abigail where she didn't catch such an unbelievably raw deal from start to finish. Talk about a fix-it, damn.

Oh man, I saw Silence early on and still love it, and read the book, and Red Dragon, and saw the original movie (Manhunter, bb Gil Grissom!) and the remake, and then he published Hannibal and I was all AAAAAAAHHH YOU RUINED IT. I didn't even see the movie. (I might see if it's on Netflix! lol) I did really like the Red Dragon arc, and I also got HEAVILY into the food designer's blog. (I can't even really cook.)

Freddie and Chilton: OH NO THERE'S ONLY ONE BED. "You're sleeping on the floor." "YOU'RE sleeping on the floor." "You can sleep in the chair." "Have you seen the stains on that chair?!" &c &c

(Just swap in poor Miriam for Abigail shoving Alana out the window ((WHAT)), then she dies, then Abigail is on the plane with Daddy # 1 waiting for Daddy # 2, then they can have angry not-reconciliations in Rome! in Venice! in Florence! as Will chases them around. He tells himself he is trying to rescue Abigail! ABIGAIL DOESN'T WANT TO BE RESCUED. Will doesn't want to rescue her either. Teacup motifs galore.) (Or hell, don't kill Miriam off, Alana and Beverley et al can try to deprogram her and find out where the FUCK Hannibal and Will and Abigail went, and then she's chasing them too! Will she kill them? Will she be jealous? Will she just fuck off to Milan with Abigail? "Is this a rescue or a kidnapping?" Abigail asks. "What do you want it to be?" Or, Hannibal could bring Bedelia along as Abigail's "mummy"....I think I've read that one....)

I love the idea that Abigail is the one he keeps catching up with at first (because Hannibal isn't ready to see Will yet? because Will isn't ready to let himself be seen by Hannibal?) and she's just like, "Do I look unhappy?" (Plus, so much potential for like, drive-by, up-against-a-wall passionate makeouts and blowjobs or whatever on the one or two occasions Hannibal and Will do wind up in the same place together before Will decides that, fuck it, he already rigged himself a fucking boat to cross the ocean in search of these people, he might as well just admit that he wants to be with them more than he wants to be anybody else.)

Or hell, don't kill Miriam off, Alana and Beverley et al can try to deprogram her and find out where the FUCK Hannibal and Will and Abigail went, and then she's chasing them too! Will she kill them? Two of the Chesapeake Ripper's only surviving victims (excepting Will Graham, who everyone can agree is less of a victim and more of a soulmate) leaning on each other to overcome their trauma with the help of a couple of badass women uniquely positioned to aid them on their journey. I want it. So bad. SO BAD.

There's a really dark version of this fic where Abigail and Miriam become serial killers in their own rights and ngl I kind of want that one too...

I love the idea that Abigail is the one he keeps catching up with at first (because Hannibal isn't ready to see Will yet? because Will isn't ready to let himself be seen by Hannibal?) and she's just like, "Do I look unhappy?"

Aww yes! And he would like seeing her happy! And having gelato in Rome or wherever! Of course Hannibal would KNOW ("I can smell that awful cologne....it's such a wonderful smell") and she would try to bring her two dads together just like a kid with regular separated parents. Will is living in a crappy shabby HIGHLY overpriced hotel in DOWNTOWN Rome, Hannibal probably has a delightful villa fifteen minutes down the Appian Way.
