Today's [community profile] snowflake_challenge prompt is to rec a favored fannish resource. As someone who mostly writes in the realm of period fiction, my personal favorite resources tend to be period-specific slang dictionaries, and of the many, many, many of them out there, none is so robust or delightful—in my personal opinion—as Green's Dictionary of Slang.

I have trawled it so many times, and reference the timelines of vulgar slang built from Green's dictionary so often that I probably ought to be paying Mr. Green a stipend.

It's truly an exceptional resource to help you pad your world with enough contextual slang to make your period story really feel grounded, cannot recommend highly enough.
