Thank you so much! I appreciate your reading it and your input. I'm definitely leaning more toward memoir—largely because I'd prefer to let people draw their own conclusions rather than abstract my way out of a scene and explain my thoughts to them, as I am Very Not Good at that thing, lol.

Yeah, as far as I know the Charismatic faith branches are the only ones where this particular type of speaking in tongues is considered good rather than kind of cringe-worthy. Seeing the deviations in the root faith is really super interesting, for sure. My older step-sister, who was well out of the house by the time we were attending church in somebody's foyer, went to Catholic churches for awhile as an adult because she liked the ceremony of them. I went with her a couple of times and it was nice but I didn't want to learn a bunch of new ritual practices, lol.
