Found this lovely meme through the delightful [personal profile] impala_chick and decided to give it a go for myself! Am going to skip questions I don't feel like answering, just FYI.

What's a new fandom that you've fallen into since the last June Something/in the last year?

I've honestly stumbled into a lot of new fandoms in the last year but I think the only one I've really done any interaction with that's truly new and isn't just a fandom I'm revisiting from years before is Silicon Valley. I put off watching it for years because I thought it was going to be something different than what it is, but finally broke down because I thoroughly enjoyed so many of the improv comics invovled and it was a true delight from start to finish.

Who is the first character that you fell in love with?

I don't 100% know the answer to this question, but I know that Sailor Mars and Tomoyo from Card Captor Sakura were very influential on me.

If you were introducing your favorite fandom to someone new, what one episode would you make them sit down and watch?

There's a strong assumption here that I would know what my "favorite" fandom is at all. Right now it's probably a toss-up between Band of Brothers and The Pacific, though I'm usually active in several fandoms at the same time. If we're talking Band of Brothers, there was some really good discussion on the HA Discord the other day about how "Bastogne" tends to be the episode that gets non-war aficionados interested in the series and I stand by that.

If we're talking The Pacific, I think it would be a more difficult decision to make. My favorite episode is the last episode of the series but I think episode four ("Gloucester/Pavuvu/Banika") is where it really picks up, because that's where Sledge enters into the series in force and of the character narratives they show in the series his is my favorite.

What is something that has surprised you about a fandom? Like, you expected the main fandom pairing to be X/Y, but the main pairing in fandom is actually X/Z. Or a pairing you expected to be slashed together isn't very popular?

I think for HBO War stuff in general, I'm routinely surprised by the fact that some characters I would consider tertiary at best are so popular in fanfiction. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just interesting.

For a lot of other fandoms—I'm looking at you Chuck, The Flash, Witcher, and SO MANY OTHERS—I'm surprised that OT3s aren't more of a thing, because there are a handful of really, really promising ones out there that could solve a lot of boring on-screen love triangle drama.

More responses to come in the form of daily responses as they strike my fancy~

I agree about OT3s! Love triangles are so over done on TV, but OT3s are the perfect way to make my favs have a happy ending.
