Research Roundup

Taking a bit of a break from cleaning in preparation for my mother's arrival this afternoon and looking after a slightly ill pupper to pull together a bunch of random articles, reports, and other resources I've stumbled across over the last few weeks and want to save for future use. Some of these links are more useful than others and, as always, your mileage may vary, but hopefully some good comes out of them for someone else too:
- A "Glossary of Common Military Terms" from the Veterans resources hub on Mental Health America of Wisconsin, of all places.
- A table detailing the average monthly base pay of various ranks of American GIs during WWII from r/AskHistorians.
- "100 Years of New York Night Life: The Impenetrable Velvet Ropes of the Post-War Era" from Paper Magazine.
- "Employment of Women in the Thirties" from Medium.
- The 53rd Infantry's 1941 Unit Book from Fort Ord, digitized by the Command History Office of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
- A listing of Lancaster County Pennsylvania Railroad stations (and stations belonging to previously extant lines later absorbed into the PRR).
- Some depth info on WWII paratrooper uniforms from At the Front, a seller of period-accurate reproduction military gear.
- Career Trend's breakdown of modern day S2 responsibilities.
- Digitization of a handbook on basic operating standards of a military intelligence unit, provided by the Federation of American Scientists.
- A collection of photographs from Fort Benning, GA circa April-June of 1942 at the Library of Congress website.
- Commander's Battle Staff Handbook circa 1994, digitized on the Air Force's University website.
- Guide to men's fashion in the 1930s from Vintage Dancer.
- Guide to men's suits in the 1940s, with styling tips, from Vintage Dancer.

/BUSTS OUT HIGHLIGHTERS
This is EXACTLY the kind of nerd deep cut I'm looking for! I know what I'll be doing this evening, haha. Hope my mom doesn't mind a quiet night in while I do inexplicable WWII research...

Here (http://old.506infantry.org/officialDocuments/official.html) are some reports of the 506th and a list of officers and NCOs nominated for a CIB. (A lot of familiar names!)

"Inside of butt. Note stitches already pulling loose.
The jump trousers had one marked weak spot- the butt. The rear center seam was closed with a single stitch- it should have been felled (folded on itself) and sewn with a double needle. This led to constant blow outs."
Okay, now I'm imagining the whole company running into battle with huge gaps in the rear of their trousers. Or doing a Braveheart-like butt-showing scene at the Nazis. OMG.
